I love....Monday

There are a lot of things to love about fall, my favorite season. The cool weather and sunny skies, beautiful orange, red, and yellow trees, pumpkins, and the return of the hoodie are all things to look forward to this time of year. But what do I look forward to most of all? Trips to the cider mill. This week I want to share one of my favorite loves of the season, unpasteurized apple cider.

I've already made two trips to two different cider mills this fall. The first, Wiards, makes pasteurized apple cider. The second, Plymouth Orchards, does not pasteurize their cider. To me, pasteurized apple cider tastes like really great apple juice. It's good, and it definitely tastes like fall. To me though, if you really want to have true apple cider at its best, you need  to try apple cider that hasn't been pasteurized.  I hope to visit several more cider mills throughout the fall, especially since I think it tastes better the later in the season it gets (based purely on my own experience, I have no idea if this is actually the case!). I also would love to find recipes that use cider in them. Last fall I experimented with apple cider pancakes, so we'll see what I come up with this fall! In the meantime, get yourself to a cider mill and enjoy some cider (and a donut too) on a beautiful fall day!

When we were on our trip to visit Diana, I saw at one of the restaurants oatmeal made with apple cider. I don't have a recipe but I imagine you could just...put cidar in some oatmeal when you cook it.

Thanks for a lovely day yesterday!
